Hi There, We have always taken in strays and your
story about Ugly brought a tear and also a laugh to me.

You see we had the same type of cat. His name was
George. George had a kinked tale and a back leg that
had not healed right from once being broken.

We named him George because he came up
our walk on George Washington's Birthday.

He was the funniest and most exasperating cat we
have ever had. One day our new next door neighbor
came over to ask if we would please get our cat out
of her kitchen. He had broken the screen and had
her purebred cat in the corner!

Another time he brought me a beautiful beat up bass.
We have no lake close so I walked around the block
and saw a pail with a stringer and water in it on the
porch of a neighbor.

Yikes! At least he had three more fish to eat.

George also disappeared every evening at about 8
and came back in the morning at about 7.
I saw a new neighbor down the block sitting with
her little girl and petting him. When I told them he
was our cat she said he came to their door every
night at around 8 and she let him in and gave him
canned cat food(he had dry at home)and then he
would sleep with her daughter only to want out in
the morning.

That's whe he came back home and wanted inside out
of the Texas heat. Once he was gone for almost a month.

We think he got in the back of a pickup tha was parked
on the street. When he walked up the driveway I nearly
fainted! He was skinny and his white and gray fur was all
matted. After a bath, food and a good long "cat nap" he
was just fine.

A few years ago he wandered off and we never saw him
again. He would be in kitty heaven by now as we think he
would be almost 20. We think someone took him in and
maybe did not let him back out.

Anyway, we still miss him and so do our neighbors.

Other cats have come and gone but none quite like
our beloved George.
