A Fragile Gift

My heart fell the other day.
It fell upon the floor in front of you,
And shattered.
It slipped through my shaking fingers,

As I held it out, for you to see.
I wanted to share it with you,
And hope, that you'd accept me,
For who I am.I wanted to be sure,
That as we said good-bye, you knew my heart was yours.

You had won it, and given it a home,
Where it was content.I have fallen before....,

But not like this.I have endured pain before....,
But not with such love inter-twined.

My heart will heal.
It must heal!
It's the biggest part of me
I have to offer,

And I'll need it to guide me,
Through the next open door.
I hope, my friend,
That it is your face, or your spirit,
Waiting inside to greet me.
