Forest (Tot) Pressnell was a Findlay, Ohio resident who pitched in the major leagues for five seasons.  He was a knuckleball pitcher who posted a 32-30 mark for the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs from 1938 to 1942.

I had the privilege of getting to know Tot in his later years, and I wrote an article about him after he died in 2001 at the age of 94 (click here to see the original article).  A SABR member in Nebraska saw that article online, and sent me these pictures.

The man in Nebraska had come into possession of some photos from the estate of a man named Peterman, who was a co-owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers in the late 1930s.  These shots, from the Dodgers' 1939 spring training camp in Clearwater, Florida, were in that cache of photos.

Anyway, I decided to scan the pictures and put them on this website.  I then started working on a biography of Tot Pressnell for SABR's Baseball Biography Project, an endeavor that aims to put 1500-word biographies of every major league player, past and present, online for easy access.  I finished that bio, and the editors posted it on the BioProject site in late September.  Click here to see my definitive biography of Tot Pressnell.

As for the photographs, I sent them on to a nephew of Tot's who helped me with some of the details of my article for BioProject.  I figured that someone in the family would enjoy them the most.
