Here are a few photos of our vintage baseball team, the Wood County Infirmary Inmates, this year.  Below are the front and back of my baseball card.  At right are two photos from our August 12 game with the Cincinnati Buckeyes. I'm pitching in the top photo and batting in the bottom one.

A few points:

  • I chose the nickname Cap because I wrote a book about Cap Anson.  If you don't choose your own nickname, someone will give you one, and you may not like it.  Always pick your own nickname.
  • See that backstop in left field?  It's about 300 to 310 feet from the plate.  I got a ball there once on two bounces, but we have guys who can hit it into the woods (335 feet or so) on the fly.
  • Of course, the photo on the bottom shows me missing the ball.  However, I hit a sacrifice fly on the next pitch and drove in the runner from third.
