Rebecca Bhaer is seeking re-election as Wood County Clerk of Courts this November. According to Mrs. Bhaer, the clerk's office is a record-keeping, service-oriented office that maintains legal records for Common Pleas Court and the Court of Appeals. It also issues vehicle and boat titles and keeps related records. ''My main goal continues to be to keep the required records accurately, efficiently and at the least possible expense, and to provide excellent service to the public. Moving the title office adjacent to the deputy registrar and increasing the hours the office is open are examples of my commitment to provide better service to the public," she said.

Mrs. Bhaer started her career in the clerk's office as a deputy clerk in the accounting area in 1981, was appointed clerk in 1987 and was elected to four-year terms in 1988 and 1992. She has completed continuing education credit seminars on jury management and space utilization and management sponsored by the National Center for State Courts. For the past eight years, she has received an education award from the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association for meeting its educational requirements. Mrs. Bhaer is the current president of the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association, a professional association whose goals are to provide a better understanding of the clerk's duties, encourage enactment of laws to provide better service and help change or prevent enactment of laws that restrict service in the clerk's office. She chaired the association's legislative committee in 1993 and 1994 and has served on the executive committee since 1993.

Mrs. Bhaer is a member of the Special Olympics Board and both the Foundation Board and the Friends Board of the Wood County District Public Library.
