![]() Dr. Douglas S. Hess is seeking election to his third term as Wood County coroner. Hess is a lifelong resident of Wood County, born and raised on a farm. He is a 1948 graduate of North Baltimore High School and a graduate of Bowling Green State University. He attended medical school at Ohio State University, followed by a five-year post-graduate course in surgery. He returned to Wood County in 1964 to enter private practice with Dr. James R. Janney. Hess is currently practicing general and bariatric surgery in Bowling Green with his son, Dr. Douglas W. Hess. In 1949 Hess married the former Patricia E. Sterling, also a life long Wood County resident. They are the parents of four children, Dr. Luana J. Hess; Jill A. Hess, Jessie L. Schmeltz and Douglas. He is a member of the Bowling Green Rotary Club and St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Hess is a member of the American Medical Association, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Bariatric Surgery, the Ohio State and Wood County Medical Associations. He is a past president of both the Wood County Medical Society and the Wood County Hospital. |
