![]() Alan R. Mayberry is seeking re-election to a third term as Wood County prosecuting attorney. He has worked full-time for the prosecutor's office since 1980. He was chief assistant to Betty Montgommery from 1981 to 1989. He was elected prosecuting attorney in 1988 and won re-election in 1992. Mayberry is a former Bowling Green councilman and referee for Bowling Green Municipal Court. Currently he serves on the Board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters, National District Attorneys Association Drug Control Committee, Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association Executive and Legislative Committees, Ohio Jail Advisory Board Executive Committee, Ohio Supreme Court Bar Examination Standard Review Committee and Attorney General Prosecutor Liaison Committee. He is chairman of the Child Abuse and Neglect Advisory Board. Additionally, he is a member of the Farm Bureau, Township Trustees and Clerks Association, Wood County Historical Society and Optimist Club. Some of his achievements as prosecutor have been recognized by the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association and the Ohio State Bar Foundation (an honorary of less than 3 percent of Ohio lawyers). He was the first prosecuting attorney in Ohio to earn board certification in criminal law. During his first two terms in office, Mayberry founded the Gang Task Force Youth Violence Prevention Program, established the Victims Services Program and enhanced computerization of the office, all of which were funded by grants rather than with tax money. Mayberry has lived in Wood County since 1962 and is a graduate of Bowling Green High School, Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo Law School. He and his wife, Lisa, a teacher, have been married for 14 years. They live in Center Township with their two sons, ages 4 and 2. |
