Candidate Robert C. Pollex
Seeking Re-election to Wood County Common Pleas Court (Probate and Juvenile Division)

Judge Robert C. Pollex of the Wood County Common Pleas Court, probate and juvenile divisions, is seeking re-election for a third term. He has served since February of 1985 as Wood County's probate and juvenile court judge, having been elected to two previous terms. Pollex has obtained funding from the state to construct and operate a 42-bed juvenile residential center which is funded by the Ohio Department of Youth Services. Further, he has obtained a $1 million construction grant from the state to add an additional 16 units to the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center, bringing the total capacity to 48 beds. Both facilities are operating at or near full capacity at this time.

He has greatly expanded the Wood County Juvenile Court services over the past 11 years in order to more effectively deal with the increasing and serious problem of juvenile delinquency. Programs initiated by Pollex and community service programs; theft offender programs, parenting skills programs; increased therapy and counseling services; diversion programs; school suspension program; school attendance programs; drug treatment referral programs; and related services to youth appearing in juvenile court. These programs are functioning largely due to state and federal grants obtained through the efforts of Pollex and his staff.

He has been appointed to various state commissions and boards by the governor and by the Ohio Supreme Court. He is currently serving on the governor' s task force dealing with child abuse cases, the governor commission on adoption, the child support guidelines commission, the supreme court's drug plan committee, and the Ohio Drug Agency Board. He also previously served on the governor Guns and Violence Task Force, the Ohio Judicial College Board and the Governor Adoption Task Force. He has been recognized by Gov. George Voinovich for his efforts while serving as president of the Ohio Association of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, by being awarded the Governor's Partnership Award. These efforts included dealing with the issues of child support collection and paternity actions.

A resident of Perrysburg, Pollex is a member of the Perrysburg Rotary Club.
