Our loss is Metroparks gain

The loss of Chris to Toledo is the second in recent months. It was announced in July that Ranger Doug Carr, who had been with Wood County Parks for ten years, also took a position there.

Chris Smalley began his career with the Wood County Park District as a Part-Time Operations Employee in May, 2000.  In January, 2001 Chris was promoted to the newly created position of Stewardship Coordinator.  As the leader of the newly created Stewardship Department, Chris was responsible for the development of the department from its humble beginnings to what it is today, an example used by other Park Districts around the State in the development of similar programs.  Chris’ certifications include State Certified Fire Manager, Certified Interpretive Planner, Certified Playground Safety Inspector, Hooked on Fishing Instructor and a National Recreation and Park Association Certified Park and Recreation Professional.  Chris left in September, 2010 to accept a position of Park Services Supervisor with the Metroparks of the Toledo Area.
