FOR THE TAX LEVY
AGAINST THE TAX LEVY
The Wood County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and
Mental Heal Services Board funds program and services which include: ChildrenŐs Resource Center, Family and
Child Abuse Prevention Center, Behavioral Connections, Family Service
Counseling Center, Wood County Educational Service Center and Wood County
National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Last year one of every four Wood County residents benefited directly
from counseling, treatment, prevention or education programs provided by these
agencies. More than 94 cents of
every dollar in Board funds go directly to the agencies.
Services provided include counseling,
intervention and treatment to keep families intact, on-site alcohol/drug abuse
prevention and education in 10 county school districts, and programs to address
the problems of
child abuse, alcohol/drug addition, domestic violence and mental
health issues.
The Board determined that, due to cutbacks in
funding at federal and state level plus an increased demand for services, a
replacement levy was needed to maintain the current level of services. The levy will cost the owner of a
$100,000 home an additional $10.16 per year in taxes.
