    Since we also spin, we know the importance of a clean fleece with little vegetable matter (VM).  We try to keep the fleeces as clean as possible by using hay bale feeders to help keep the VM out of the sheep's fleeces.  All fleeces are heavily skirted and belly wool is never included in a fleece for sale.  Icelandic fleeces also have much less lanolin than many other breeds today, so after washing the wool, there is much less shrinkage.  All this to say, when you purchase an Icelandic fleece from our farm you will receive a higher weight of wool from fleece to roving.
