Congregational Covenant of Respect

We, the members of MVUUC, developed this covenant of respect to strengthen our bonds as a community, while building the trust that allows individuals to travel on their journeys.

• I will respect the views of others regarding religious, spiritual and other ideas.
• I will agree to discuss and listen without being judgmental or using inflammatory words.
• I will respect the humanity of individuals in our congregation by showing sincere appreciation, nurturing talents, and being gracious to the members of our congregation.
• I will make attempts to directly resolve differences with the individual(s) involved before going to others.
• I will take responsibility for my actions and support others in their responsibilities.
• I will take personal responsibility for being knowledgeable about what's going on in our congregation and sharing relevant information.
• I will contribute time, talent and funds.
• I will honor my commitments to this congregation and its members.
• I will offer solutions, instead of being reactive to situations.
• I will reflect on my own behavior and its effect on others.
• I will make my best effort to apply these affirmations of the Congregational Covenant of Respect.
