Have you ever seen a hipper grandma? My mom, the Slinging Granny!

We had a fantastic weekend!

giggle for GrandmaIt was my birthday, so my parents decided to meet us in Pittsburgh to celebrate. Saturday night we got in the hotel pool; Sam kicked and splashed with a look of utter seriousness on his face. This was work.

We went to the Pittsburgh Zoo on Sunday, and everybody had a blast. Among other things, Sam got to pet a camel and get nose-to-nose with a dolphin. He especially loved the aquarium, where he actively watched the fish swim back and forth, back and forth...

Dragon FlightLook what flew into town today!

I got his costume at Babystyle. Sam thinks it's a hoot; I held him up to the mirror, and he stared and stared and stared...

Perhaps I'm biased, but I think he'll be the sweetest little dragon in the world come Halloween.

Little manI now believe that Sam has truly figured out mirrors. A few hours ago, I was holding him up to face a mirror, my cheek pressed against his. He was sucking on his fingers, and then after a moment, without looking away from our reflections, slowly removed his fingers and inserted them into my mouth. Cute kid.

Trying to sitHe's doing everything in his power to try to sit up these days. When he's in his carseat, on my lap, or propped on a pillow, he starts lumging his head forward, swimming his arms, and bicycling his legs in the air. He's also getting closer and closer to rolling over, though something always seems to distract him whenever he gets too close.

Here's a special treat for the day: Sam movies! Yes, they're huge, so go get something to drink while they're downloading. I think they're worth it, myself.

Heh. I just made two stores full of stuff for Sam's grandmas and grandpas to buy, if they like. Hey, if nothing appeals, don't worry; I'll be changing things out over time. No pressure!

I think Sam's a werewolf. To wit: he likes to howl, with this high-pitched "Oooooo!" noise; he likes to lunge at throats and claw; and two nights ago, we had to leave a rummage sale early due to his increasingly frenetic behavior. It was a full moon outside.

Coincidence?

grinny babyHe's just such a happy baby!

Yesterday we were out of the house pretty much all day, and he barely slept a wink. By the time dinner rolled around, he royally conked out on my chest. I wore him in the sling while we ate, and when I took him out to put him in his carseat, he woke up with the most crossed, glazed eyes I'd ever seen him sport. Even so, he grinned up at me - at least, once he managed to focus on my face. Poor, sleepy boy!

He slept in for an hour today. I guess he needed to catch up.
