He of many chinsI'd say it's official: Sam is officially in the heart of his six-week growth spurt. The increased nighttime waking continues and he's demanding to be nursed every half-hour or so during the day. As long as I'm able to comply with his wishes, everything is just hunky-dory; if I can't nurse him immediately, or if my supply is lower than he'd like, the neighbors get to hear about it. Fun!

Sitting with daddy Sitting and standing remain the order of the day. Of course, he can't do either on his own yet - he's only five weeks old! - but that doesn't deter him from trying. Sam insists that we help him with the endeavors whenever the fancy strikes him. He especially likes to be held standing on the floor while he grips the top of the coffee table. He'll remain standing until his little legs get too tired, and then he'll become most cranky at having to sit for a moment.

Tell me these growth spurts end...

Napping with MommyDoctor's appointment went great! Sam weighed in at 11 lbs, 13 oz - the 85th precentile for height and the 90th for weight. They said that if he keeps growing along this curve, he'll likely grow to about 6'1" or 6'2". He's the spitting image of his Uncle Cory, also a tall guy, so I wouldn't be surprised.

For the past two nights, he's played the morning lark at two in the morning. Definitely not a habit we want to continue...

Crowing with happinessI thought I'd take some shots of Sam without a diaper cover on, just to capture the beauty of a cloth diaper on a little bum. It's worth all the extra effort - though there's really not all that much. I'm washing my own dipes at home, and it's only a few extra loads of laundry a week. Actually, it's helping me stay on track of all the rest of the washing, too, since I'm getting into the habit of doing at least one load of laundry a day.

Happiest little boy on EarthHe's quite the morning lark these days, waking me with chirps, coos, and giggles. I told him, "God made you guys so cute as protection from sleepy mommies." During the day, though, it's getting harder and harder to keep him happy if he's not "standing" on somebody's lap. No reclining for this one-month-old! It's going to be a long first year...

Tomorrow is his first doctor's appointment. I'm eager to find out how much he weighs these days. He was 8 lbs, 12 oz at birth, and he's really "chubbed up" since then. I, happily, am now back down to my pre-pregnancy weight! Since that was so easy, I'm really going to work at dropping even more weight; Sam deserves a healthy mommy. (He deserves a healthy daddy, too, so Eric is joining me on the diet.)
