The midwives and SamWell, we had our final appointment with the midwives last night, at six weeks post-partum. Sam now weighs 12 pounds, 14 ounces - up over a pound from his doctor appointment last week. I guess those growth spurts pack a punch! We all got a bit tearful at the end of the appointment and took a lot of pictures. We'll miss them a great deal.

World Breastfeeding Week, and Sam and I have been participating in the National Nurse-Out. So far this week, we've nursed at the library, my old college, a couple of restaurants, a department store, and a shoe store. It's a bit difficult to nurse him in public, though; he's so very alert to everything going on that he insists on pulling away to look at the people walking past us. I love that he's so tuned into the world and that his vision is obviously so developed, but good grief! The midwives were surprised when I told them he was doing this; apparently, most babies don't start getting distracted by people until they're about six months old.

I think we'll be going to the county fair tomorrow. Not that Sam will be able to appreciate it much (then again, the little busybody just might), but I love getting out of the house. It's getting pretty lonely around here.
