Biography

Tim Brown is currently serving his third term as Wood County Commissioner. He was elected in 1998, re-elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2006.  In spite of the elections in 2006 being among the worst in recent history for Republicans in Ohio, Commissioner Brown won his third term with a margin of victory of over 2,000 votes.

In 2008 Commissioner Brown was selected by his Ohio colleagues to serve as Chairman of one of the most important committees in the Commissioner's Association, the Legislative Committee.

He was also elected by his colleagues in Northwest Ohio to serve as President of the Northwest Ohio Commissioners and Engineers Association. The election and swearing-in ceremony took place in Columbus at the Commissioners annual Winter Conference in December 2007.  “I am honored by the support of my colleagues and I look forward to working with them to better represent the citizens of Wood County and Northwest Ohio. We have a lot of work to do to turn around Ohio’s economy, and Commissioners are on the front lines of that effort. I’m looking forward to the challenges and the opportunities we will have to improve Northwest Ohio by working together”. Commissioner Brown said.

Prior to Mr. Brown's becoming Commissioner, he served Wood County for eight years as District Representative for the late U.S. Congressman Paul Gillmor. Mr. Brown managed the Congressman's Wood County office and provided constituent service dealing with many government agencies.

Following graduation from Bowling Green State University's College of Business in 1986, Mr. Brown served Wood County as the business manager for the Sanitary Engineering office, which then had an annual budget of ten million dollars and 30 employees.

Tim Brown attends Cedar Creek Church and is a member of the Wood County Historical Society, the Friends of the Parks, the Perrysburg Chamber of Commerce, the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, WBGU Public Television and is a member of the Bowling Green Curling Club. He serves as Chairman of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) Air Quality Task Force and is Chairman of the Roadway Reforestation and Beautification Project. Commissioner Brown serves on the County Commissioner's Association Legislative Committee and is Chairman. He also serves on the county's Investment Advisory Committee, the Agricultural Extension Service Advisory Committee, the Community Improvement Corporation, the county's Data Processing Board, and the Microfilm Board. He is also Chairman of the County's Buildings and Grounds Committee and was elected by his colleagues to serve as Vice President of the Board of Commissioners. From 1991 until 1996, Mr. Brown served as a member of the Wood County Board of Elections.
