| Biography
Tim Brown is currently serving his third term as Wood County
Commissioner. He was elected in 1998, re-elected in 2002 and re-elected
in 2006. In spite of the elections in 2006 being among the worst
in recent history for Republicans in Ohio, Commissioner Brown won his
third term with a margin of victory of over 2,000 votes.
In 2008 Commissioner Brown was selected
by his Ohio colleagues to serve as Chairman of one of the most important
committees in the Commissioner's Association,
the Legislative Committee.
He was also elected by his colleagues in Northwest Ohio to serve as
President of the Northwest Ohio Commissioners and Engineers Association.
The election and swearing-in ceremony took place in Columbus at the
Commissioners annual Winter Conference in December 2007. “I am
honored by the support of my colleagues and I look forward to working
with them to better represent the citizens of Wood County and Northwest
Ohio. We have a lot of work to do to turn around Ohio’s economy, and
Commissioners are on the front lines of that effort. I’m looking forward
to the challenges and the opportunities we will have to improve
Northwest Ohio by working together”. Commissioner Brown said.
Prior to Mr. Brown's becoming Commissioner, he served Wood County for
eight years as District Representative for the late U.S. Congressman Paul
Gillmor. Mr. Brown managed the Congressman's Wood County office and
provided constituent service dealing with many government agencies.
Following graduation from Bowling Green State University's College of
Business in 1986, Mr. Brown served Wood County as the business manager
for the Sanitary Engineering office, which then had an annual budget of
ten million dollars and 30 employees.
Tim Brown attends Cedar Creek Church and is a member of the Wood County
Historical Society, the Friends of the Parks, the Perrysburg Chamber of
Commerce, the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, WBGU Public Television
and is a member of the Bowling Green Curling Club. He serves as Chairman of the Toledo
Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) Air Quality Task Force
and is Chairman of the Roadway Reforestation and
Beautification Project. Commissioner Brown serves on the County
Commissioner's Association Legislative Committee and is Chairman. He also serves on the
county's Investment Advisory Committee, the Agricultural Extension
Service Advisory Committee, the Community Improvement Corporation, the
county's Data Processing Board, and the Microfilm Board. He is also
Chairman of the County's Buildings and Grounds Committee and was elected
by his colleagues to serve as Vice President of the Board of
Commissioners. From 1991 until 1996, Mr. Brown served as a member of the
Wood County Board of Elections.
