Back to School Bash
was a HUGE success!!!
After months of planning, collecting money, comparing prices, shopping
and a lot of prayers, our Back to School Bash was a HUGE success.
On July 24th, from the hours of 4:00 to 6:00, we passed out
98 complete school supply kits. We saw many smiles from children and
received many thank yous from so many grateful parents!! Throughout this
process, the total amount of money and supplies collected was equivalent
to approximately $1505.00. This is an amazing amount raised for this
being our first year providing this outreach to the children of the
Elmwood Elementary School. The supplies that are left will be taken to
first night at the school on August 22nd to be distributed to
those students that were unable to attend the event at the church. Any
supplies that are left after First Night will then be donated to the
school.
We would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for
their contributions to this ministry: Bishop Bruce Ough, Bloomdale
Community Association, B. Hillz Excavating, Friendship, Modern Woodmen
Insurance – Bowling Green, Mr. James A. Hammer, N.A.T. Transportation,
Wayne Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary and the members of the
Wayne U.M.C..
As it says in Matthew 25:21 – “Well done, good and faithful servant…”

Children had a BLAST at Vacation Bible School!
Our “Shake It
Up” Vacation Bible School was held July 14- 17th! We had an
average of 42 children show up each night looking forward to being fed –
physically and spiritually! Throughout the 3 evenings that we were
together, the children learned about the Passover meal and The Last
Supper with Jesus. They experienced these things through tasting new
foods, stories, games, songs and craft projects.
Our mission
project this year needed to be a mission that had to be food related, so
we chose to collect canned food items for God’s Storehouse in
Bradner. We ended up
collecting more than 100 cans of food in this short time that we were
together. They also collected an offering totaling 108.16 that will
also be giving to God’s Storehouse.
The children experienced
in so many ways what life was like in Bible times. They tasted food that
was similar to the food that was eaten during the Passover meal. They
found that the bitter herbs were “gross” but the Charoset was sweet and
good. They also learned that just as kitchen utensils are tools used to
make a dish in the kitchen, we can be tools to carry out God’s word.
