In
the spirit of the Christmas season, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus
as the greatest gift of all, I’ve been doing some thinking about the
“gifts” we have in our life together at Wayne UMC. I thought I would
share what I’ve come up with in the popular “Top Ten List” format! I’d
love to hear what some of your ideas are, too!
Rev. Betty’s Top
Ten “Gifts” We Have At Wayne UMC
10. The best
church secretary in Wood County & two amazing women who team-clean our
church when no one is looking.
9. Marvelous men’s brunches & wonderful women’s
luncheons!
8. A kitchen that makes people say “Wow!” when
they see it for the first time.
7. Five awesome new members who also happen to
be under the age of 18!
6. We survived 3 building projects in 15 years
and have no debt! (parsonage, kitchen and accessibility)
5. A finance team that looks at the facts with
the eyes of faith and hope for the future.
4. Amazing musicians (organists, pianists,
singers, and others, of all ages) who freely share their talents with us
week after week!
3. People who ask how you are, and care enough
to really want to know.
2. The kids who faithfully come up for
Children’s Moments every week….and their parents who let them, even
though they never know what the kids are going to say!
And finally, the number one “gift” at Wayne UMC………
1. Being part of a group of people who are truly
seeking to be faithful to what God has called them to do and be in this
time and place!
When you think about our
church, and what it means to be part of this congregation, what are the
“gifts” that you see? May God open our eyes to the gifts we’ve been
given and the blessings that are ours when we gather together in Jesus’
name. Our challenge, then, is to take what we have been given and share
it with the community around us so that they will see and feel the Love
of Jesus through all we do! Then and only then, will we be fulfilling
the task given to us as followers of Jesus!
Christmas Blessings!
